2017 年 6 月に初来日した Payara が再び日本へやってきました (Payara と Hazelcast で日本オフィスも立ち上げました)。今回のテーマはマイクロサービスとクラウド。Payara team に加え、ゲストスピーカーとして Hazelcast の Greg Luck 氏、日本マイクロソフトの寺田佳央氏、Azul の Simon Ritter 氏をお招きし、盛りだくさんの内容でお送りします。

JavaEE の世界で 2 つの大きな変化が今まさに起こっています。企業連合が JavaEE のサブセット上に定めたマイクロサービスの API である Microprofile と、JavaEE を JCP から Eclipse Foundation へと移管する EE4J です。Payara は双方のイニシアティブの最前線にいます。このプレゼンテーションでは、Steve から MicroProfile と EE4J のロードマップの最新情報をお伝えし、これらの今後の方向性と達成すべき目標をご説明するとともに、会場の皆様からの質問にお答えします。
Hazelcast Jet は新しく Apache 2 ライセンスでリリースされる、ストリーム及びバッチ処理のための DAG ベース・プラットフォームです。このセッションでは、Hazelcast の CEO/CTO である Greg Luck が、皆様に Jet のアーキテクチャについてご紹介するとともに、サンプル・コードを示しながら具体的な使用方法をご説明いたします。Jet は Spark に取って代わり得るものですが、より高速でシンプルなデプロイを実現します。接続に必要なものを除いて依存関係を持たないわずか 10MB の Jar ですので、皆様のアプリケーションにも容易に組み込むことができることでしょう。
まもなくリリースされる Payara Server 5 では、MicroProfile 1.2 をサポートするとともに、Java EE 8 リファレンス実装である GlassFish 5 に準拠します。Payara 5 は Hazelcast ベースのデータグリッドを用いた新しいドメインを含み、これによりクラウド環境において特別な設定を行うことなくクラスタを構築できるようになっています。このセッションでは、Payara 5 によるスケーラブルで可用性の高いアプリケーション実行基盤を Microsoft Azure 上で構築するデモを行います。
昨今、Docker コンテナのオーケストレーションをおこなうために、Kubernetes が注目されています。本セッションでは、Payara/Hazelcast を利用して Kubernetes 上でマイクロサービスを実装するための手法をデモを交えながらご紹介します。デモ中では、Istio と呼ばれるサービス・メッシュの技術を使い、サーキット・ブレーカーを実現するための新しい手法やBlue Green/Canary といったデプロイメントの新しい手法についてもご紹介します。
また、分散トレースの Zipkin を利用し、サービス間呼び出しのレイテンシの把握や、Grafana を利用したリアルタイムのシステム監視などもご紹介します。
JDK 9 がリリースされました。同時に、Java が今後どのようにリリースされるか、そしてどのようなアップデートが OpenJDK 経由で利用可能になるのか、といったいくつかのアナウンスもなされました。このセッションでは、それらのアナウンスが何を意味しているのか、そして、これらの変化がクラウド上のアプリケーションをベースとするマイクロサービスのデプロイにおいて、使用する Java のバージョンの決定にいかなる影響を与えるのかについて見てゆきます。

There are 2 major changes happening in the JavaEE world. Microprofile an industry collaboration to define Microservices APIs on top of a subset of JavaEE and EE4J the migration of JavaEE from the JCP to the Eclipse Foundation. Payara is at the forefront of both initiatives. In this presentation Steve will give an update on the roadmap of both initiatives their aims and objectives and will be open to questions.
Jet is a new, Apache 2 licensed, DAG based platform for stream and batch processing. In this talk, Greg Luck, Hazelcast CEO/CTO will introduce you to the architecture and illustrate throughout with coding examples. Jet can take the place of Spark but with much greater speed and much simpler deployment - its a 10MB Jar with no dependencies other than those you need for connectors, which you can easily embed in your application.
Payara Server 5 is coming with MicroProfile 1.2 support and synched up with GlassFish 5 the Java EE 8 reference implementation. Payara 5 includes a new domain data grid based on Hazelcast that provides out of the box cluster support for Cloud environments with zero configuration. In this talk, Kenji Hasunuma will demonstrate the creation of a fully scalable, high availability Payara 5 infrastructure on Microsoft Azure.
Recently Kubernetes has been attracting attention in order to perform orchestration of Docker containers. In this session, we introduce a method for implementing micro service on Kubernetes using Payara/Hazelcast. During my demonstration, I will also introduce a new way of realizing a circuit breaker and a new way of deployment such as Blue Green/Canary, using service mesh technology called Istio.
Also, we will introduce the distributed traceing tool Zipkin, It can show the latency between services call, and also I will show the real-time system monitoring using Grafana.
JDK 9 has been released and at the same time a number of announcements have been made about how Java will be released and how updates will be made available through the OpenJDK. In this session we'll take a look at what those announcements are and how these changes will impact decisions about which versions of Java to use for deploying microservice based applications into the cloud.
